NGO "Ukrainian Hub" 2022
Implemented projects
Despite the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, due to which almost the entire Ukrainian hub team was forced to leave their homes, we were able to implement not only planned projects, but also created new initiatives.
With the support of an American organization A non-profit 2 educational projects for Ukrainian startups were implemented and a new program was prepared for Ukrainian businesswomen forcibly resettled in Portugal.
6 online training sessions with experts in various fields were held.
Ukrainian hub also became an official partner and organizer of the Ukrainian pavilion at the international conference Web Summit.
We are proud of the results of the extremely difficult year 2022 and the achievements of the teams and entrepreneurs who participated in our programs and continue to develop and demonstrate strong results even in difficult times. These new projects and businesses will become a reliable support for Ukrainians now, and will inspire new achievements of others.

Startup Study Tour in Silicon Valley
Educational and networking trip of Ukrainian startups to Silicon Valley
The Ukrainian hub team, with the support of the American organization CRDF Global, conducted a large-scale initiative for graduates and grantees of previous programs - educational and business tour of Ukrainian startups to Silicon Valley, USA.
In addition to the activities of the conference, training with mentors and networking, the team of the NGO "Ukrainian Hub" together with Startup Grind Kyiv and OneWay Ventures a pitch competition was organized where 10 Ukrainian startups presented their projects to a distinguished jury: investors, representatives of funds and accelerators.
They invited me to the program 20 teams, 6 of them were selected to participate in the trip. 11 mentors - experts from various fields were also invited to participate, who, in addition to training, also conducted individual mentoring sessions.
The project consisted of the following parts:
- Selection period - November 25 - December 16, 2021
- Attending the Startup Grind Global 2022 conference - April 11-12
- Study Tour – visiting successful Silicon Valley companies, as well as startup incubators and accelerators – April 14-15
- 2-day bootcamp, which was held at the residence of Foley and Lardner LLP - April 14-15
- Ukrainian Networking and Pitch Event
It was determined 3 winners, which received from CRDF Global for $10 000 for the development of projects.

A project of an international scale, were involved participants from all over Ukraine and conducted an educational and business tour in the USA.
Virtual Incubation Program #2
A virtual curriculum and bootcamp for university-based projects
Two-week training program online, for entrepreneurs, students, scientists and socially important startups in the technological field in the early stages.
A program with a high inclusive rate, which attracted even the youngest entrepreneurs to cooperation.
The program consisted of the following stages:
- The selection period is July 5-30, 2022
- Online training - August 1 - 10, 2022
- Demo day – August 12
They took part in the program 47 teams, and in general - 103 people. 7 experienced mentors from different parts of the world taught and advised participants on the principles of building business models, structuring a team, communicating with investors and preparing pitches and presentations. 12 teams made it to the bootcamp, and three winners of the final Pitch Competition received grants in the amount 10,000 dollars each from A non-profit for the development of their projects.

Ukrainian Pavilion at Web Summit
The first official pavilion of the Ukrainian technological ecosystem on Web Summit
Despite the war, Ukraine was represented 70 startups, venture funds, IT companies, ecosystem organizations and representatives Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and Ministry of Economy.
The project was implemented by the initiative group: UNIT. City, Ukrainian Startup Fund, NGO "Ukrainian Hub", Sigma Software Group and European Business Association, with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Embassy of Ukraine in Portugal, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and partners: Flyer One Ventures, Bitcoin Magazine, NEAR.UA, ROOSH, Sigma Software Labs, SID Venture Fund.
In total, the Summit registered approx 70,000 participants from 160 countries of the world.
The program consisted of the following stages:
- Preparation period April-October 2022
- Conference November 1-4, 2022
The Ukrainian pavilion at the Summit was visited at least 30 thousand people. Among the visitors were such respected and honored guests as the first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, the mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, and the US Deputy Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, Marisa Lago.
They took part in the conference under the auspices of the Ukrainian Pavilion 24 teams of Ukrainian startups.

Amarelo Azul Business Camp
A hybrid educational program for Ukrainian women forcibly displaced by Russia's war against Ukraine.
First 3-month business camp, which is a pilot project of a hybrid educational program for Ukrainian women forcibly displaced by Russia's war against Ukraine. The program is implemented in Portugal and involves the participation of Ukrainian women who want to start their business in Portugal or other European countries or the USA.
The program consisted of the following parts:
- The preparatory period is from September 1 to October 30, 2022
- The selection period is from December 1 to 30, 2022
- Hybrid training - January 16 - April 10, 2023
- Demo day – April 15, 2023
Local partners are involved in the cooperation, including: Lisbon City Hall, Caixa Geral de Depósitos Bank, NGO SIC Esperança and invited more than 20 experienced mentors from Ukraine, Europe and the USA who are experts in various fields important for starting your own business. Since the start of recruitment, we have received almost 100 applications for participation! 40 women received invitations to the first pilot bootcamp.
