Russia's war against Ukraine, which began with the annexation of Crimea in February 2014 and the invasion of eastern Ukraine in April 2014, as well as a full-scale invasion in February 2022, caused a massive outflow of refugees, a significant portion of whom ended up in the United States.

In the second set of the Amarelo Azul 2.0 program, three winners from Ukraine received grants to implement their business ideas in Portugal. This success highlights the importance of the program in providing opportunities for women in business and their integration in the new society.
